Two Steps. One Exceptional Opportunity.

Outstanding Postdoctoral Program

Annual Tax-Free Excellence Fellowship of USD 55,000 for Three Years

A Program for Scientific Excellence

The Weizmann Institute of Science is a world-leading research institution dedicated to advancing fundamental scientific knowledge. Its collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and state-of-the-art facilities provide exceptional opportunities for scientific discovery and professional growth.

The Outstanding Postdoctoral Program at the Weizmann Institute of Science is offered through the Weizmann School of Science and is designed to attract exceptional international postdoctoral researchers and provide them with an outstanding start to their scientific careers.

The program offers a unique two-step application process: a fully funded pre-application visit to the Weizmann Institute, followed by consideration for admission to the Outstanding Postdoctoral Program. Selected fellows will receive an enhanced fellowship and join a small cohort of outstanding postdoctoral fellows in a program designed to support their scientific growth and prepare them for future success as research leaders.

Accepted Postdoctoral Fellows will receive an annual tax-free Excellence Fellowship of USD 55,000* for 3 years, and admission to the Outstanding Postdoctoral Program.
(*Payment is in NIS, and the exact dollar equivalent is subject to the exchange rate.)

Step 1

Fully Funded
Pre-Application Visit

Eligible candidates must apply for a fully funded visit to their potential host labs at the Weizmann Institute of Science before making a final decision about their postdoctoral position. Selected applicants will be invited to spend five to seven days

visiting potential host research groups, exploring the research environment and community, touring state-of-the-art laboratories and core facilities, and experiencing Weizmann’s vibrant international scientific community.

Before Applying

Applicants must identify at least one host PI who is potentially interested in hosting them as a postdoctoral fellow and is willing to provide a letter of support for the funded visit in their lab.

To learn more about scientists at the Weizmann Institute of Science and their areas of research, consult the faculty and department sites, and review the following resources:

Accommodation on campus (or at a nearby hotel, if required)

How to Apply

Submit an online application form and indicate in the Comments section that you are applying for the Outstanding Program.

Please email the Weizmann School of Science Coordinator for the postdoctoral training program at postdoc@weizmann.ac.il  and include the following:

  • A PDF file containing your CV and list of publications.
  • A signed form containing the required additional information.
  • In addition, please arrange for two letters of reference, one of which must be from your PhD advisor. The letters should be sent directly by the referees to the Weizmann School of Science Faculty Coordinator.

Step 2

Admission to the Outstanding Postdoctoral Program

Following the visit, the host PI will evaluate the candidate and submit a recommendation regarding their suitability for the research group.

Candidates who receive a positive recommendation will be reviewed by the Outstanding Postdoctoral Program Admission Committee. Final decisions will be based on scientific excellence, the faculty host’s recommendation, and the program’s selection criteria.

Official acceptance letters will be sent by the end of January 2027.

Candidates who were not selected for the program, but were accepted by a host lab, are welcome to join the Weizmann campus on one of our additional, fully funded, postdoctoral tracks.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants must be international candidates who are not currently enrolled in a doctoral or postdoctoral position at the Weizmann Institute
